1. Big Learning Data Concerns? We are in the final days of writing a new book, Big Learning Data, in cooperation with ASTD. I need your help!
As more and more data is available and “mined” on employee’s learning and other activities, what concerns might they have? What might be a “Big Learning Data” Code of Conduct that an organization might create?
For example, if an employee takes a Myers Briggs survey, how is that data used now - or in 5 years? What degree of transparency is stated or assumed about the use of Big Learning Data?
I would love your comments and thoughts as I write the final and important chapter of the new “Big Learning Data” book. Please send a confidential note to emasie@masie.com
2. NBCUniversal’s Talent Lab: ReBranding Learning! We believe that it is time for our field to approach “ReBranding Learning”. As fewer people take traditional courses, as more content is driven by user choice and as career patterns shift, organizations have to be ready to take a fresh look at the “Brand” of Learning.
We are honored to be featuring Jayzen Patria, Executive Director of Talent Development and NBCUniversal’s Talent Lab, to lead an event-wide discussion about “ReBranding Learning” at Learning 2013. We will ask every participant and organization to take a creative and strategic look at their brand - from titles to assumptions to even graphical representation of learning.
Jayzen is leading the efforts at NBCUniversal in this arena with their new Talent Lab. More details at: http://www.learning2013.com/blog/item/nbcuniversal.html
3. Yes, Collaborator Won - Picture in Action: Yesterday, I shared my excitement about a big race for our horse, Collaborator. Well, he won! It was so exciting to see the results of months of training, care and coaching result in a historic win at Saratoga Springs Racetrack - as he led the field of 10 horses from the gate to the finish line over a mile. Collaborator was also Competitive. And his winning picture is at: http://www.masie.com/collaborator-8-12-13.html
Hundreds of TRENDS readers sent him good wishes yesterday by email. He thanks you and is taking a day of rest and relaxation before getting ready for his next race in a few weeks.
Note: The MASIE Center will be closed on Wednesday, August 14th. We are taking a van to bring our entire team of employees to a matinee of our Tony Winning Musical: Kinky Boots.
Yours in learning,
