This note is all about Experiences! I want to share a Train Experience to Learning and a Cooking Experience about Storytelling.
1. Train Experience to Learning - Reflection for Design and Backyard of America!
2. Cooking & Chef Experience for Storytelling!
1. Train Experience to Learning - Reflection for Design and Backyard of America! As many TRENDS readers know, I have a tradition of taking an overnight train ride to Florida each year before the Learning conference.
This Thursday morning, I board Amtrak’s Silver Star train #91 headed to Orlando, Florida. As it travels towards Florida, I will be relaxing, reflecting and doing my final design. This year, as I am in a new role as a keynoter and Learning CONSORTIUM leader, I have more time at Learning 2019 to engage with colleagues and be a learner.
The reflection aspect of design is a key element. You build your model of content, activities, graphics and engagement. But, then you reflect and consider and re-design some elements. The train goes along the backyard of America and you see the country and neighborhoods with a fresh eye.
If you are living along the way of the train, I would enjoy chatting with you for a few minutes as we pass by. My mobile phone will work and let me know if you would like to chat about learning, life or our changing focuses. Send me your email to emasie@masie.com and a good time to catch you.
Traveling in an Amtrak overnight train is an EXPERIENCE. I will have a small bedroom and I’ll bring along some fun food to eat. Plus there is a cool dome car to sit in and watch the train head South. Here is the route and map: https://www.amtrak.com/silver-service-palmetto-train . And, if you are heading to Learning 2019, I’ll see you in Orlando!
2. Cooking & Chef Experience for Storytelling! Another Experience I am designing is so exciting. On November 6th, I will be hosting, along with Telly Leung (Aladdin, Rent & Glee) an in-depth Storytelling and Broadway LAB in New York City.
For this LAB, we will be going to see a new comedy/play that MASIE Productions is producing called “SEARED”. It is all about 4 people working at the back of a small restaurant in Brooklyn. And, the storytelling is about the very opinionated Chef, who does not want to cook his special scallops. Actors include Raul Esparza, who you may know from his previous role as the DA on “Law & Order” and the musical “Company.”
We have just a few spaces left in this Experience and you or your colleagues will learn new approaches to Storytelling and enjoy the show and sense the real food that our cast cooks right in front of you! Details and registration at http://www.masie.com
Yours in learning,
