1. Podcast: “The Way We’re Working, Isn’t Working!” Tony Schwartz has written a provocative new book, “The Way We’re Working, Isn’t Working!” We have recently recorded a PodCast with the author, detailing his thoughts about the “energy” impacts of how we are multi-tasking and pressurizing our workforce. Our new CLO Jonathan Kayes interviewed Tony for this 14-minute TRENDS Briefing. The free PodCast is now live at:

2. World Cup Learning & Teaching - Global Curiosity: The United States vs. Slovenia match of the World Cup is playing as I write and send out this Learning TRENDS. While not a soccer/football fan, I have found myself in the ranks of many Americans, who are experiencing this global sports experience for the first time. We’ve been learning the rules of World Cup, discovering the differences in these low score games, and coming to grips with the sound of the “Vuvuzela” as it buzzes non-stop during the games from South Africa. My colleagues from outside the U.S. are very surprised that the World Cup is not more popular in our country. The globalization of media (as well as a tie in the first U.S. game) has created a learning moment in this land.

The World Cup is also an interesting “teachable moment” at all age levels. Here is an interesting article with resources for leveraging the World Cup in a range of learning activities: http://tinyurl.com/33aa8mc
